March Madness continued support, growth, and the SXSW Experience

March 7 – 10, 2016
It is time to fly to Austin Texas. We are invited by the International Accelerator to attend the SXSW Education and SXSW Interactive. SXSWedu® fosters innovation in learning by hosting a diverse and energetic community of stakeholders across a variety of backgrounds in education! The four-day event affords registrants open access to engaging sessions, interactive workshops, hands on learning experiences, film screenings, early stage startups and a host of networking opportunities.

We had the opportunity to meet with some of the largest and the best Education companies and publishers in the world including Pearson, McGraw-Hill as well some of the most cutting edge innovators including Guy Kawasaki and Max Ventilla, the founder of ALT School that received last year $100m funding from Founders Fund, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan’s foundation.

March 11 – 15, 2016
MyeTutor was excited to be one of the Greek startups that were featured in SXSW Interactive International Accelerator’s start up program, sponsored by the Hellenic Initiative. We found ourselves surrounded by warm hearted people willing to share with us and were given the opportunity to exhibit our online tutoring platform, pitch, and meet predominately with local – Austin based- entrepreneurs, investor and educators attending the International Accelerator and the SXSW Interactive event.

SXSW Interactive is an incubator of cutting-edge technologies and digital creativity, the 2016 event featured five days of compelling presentations and panels from the brightest minds in emerging technology, scores of exciting networking events hosted by industry leaders and an unbeatable lineup of special programs showcasing the best new websites, video games and startup ideas the community has to offer. From hands-on training to big-picture analysis of the future, SXSW Interactive has become the place to discover the technology of tomorrow today.

A quick read up about the SXSW from a Greek Reporter who was visiting the conference.  Huffington Post Greece - 21 Greek Startups in SXSW Texas

2016 Some endings and many new beginings

We welcomed in the new year with open arms and a push to bring our dream of disrupting the educational world with our truly personalized experience.  Like many startups, the last year was filled with success and hardships, many challenges were in our road and with a lot of effort from our great and expanding team we pushed past them.

As with life, there were some endings in the begining of the year. THEA which had been a great help and supporter of the MyeTutor.org platform held it's graduation from their incubator. We were present, and awarded for the excellence and growth we showed while being a part of their family.  Presenting the graduation was  Constantine Michalos  President of the Industry and Commerce in Athens.

Our time with THEA brought us around Europe, helped promote and spread awareness of the growing educational problems on a global scale. We want to wish the THEA Group many future successes, and that they can continue to help the Greek entrepreneurs reach for their goals.

A great push forward came in the end of January as the MyeTutor team began development with a connection to IBM Watson.  We will be publishing later more information and news about this powerful new ally in the push to get our platform to be the pinnacle of technology and another step closer to a global change in education.

In February MyeTutor had its first annual review where the company discussed the areas where we excelled and where more work needs to be done. As a startup you come to face many things that are unpredictable, agility, determination and fact reaction is a must to be able to make it through. In our first company review we had the pleasure of hosting one of our colleagues who flew into Greece from the US while others were on skype with us several hours for two consecutive days.

It was a two-day event where the first day several members of the team presented the progress and spoke about subjects that are of importance to the company while the second day we had some Use Cases recorded under observation - a parent and a tutor.

Their feedback was extensively discussed within the team and subsequently some of the recommendations where implemented. The second part of the second day was devoted to a hackathon where the IT and the Education/Content creation teams were assigned each a challenge to complete.

Finishing 2015 Part 2 Web Summit, First responses to the MVP

Closing out a great year for us with the largest of Tech based conventions we took part in this year, Web Summet 2015  Dublin Ireland. It was an inspiring event full of startups ranging from just formed to those that have reached strong market disruption.

Through the multi day conference we established great business connections, found solutions for many possible upcoming challenges, and brought awareness about the need for a change in education to an extremely receptive audience. A big thank you again to the group at @THEA for their help and support for many of the conventions we were able to participate this year.

Dublin itself was a great welcome, a mix of technology and industry and the irish seemed very keen on the idea of personalizing our children's education. The push has to go on so we said good bye to Ireland, and returned to our grindstones to keep the push going.

To end the year we want to thank all our advisors, mentors, team members, supports, and all of you, thank you for helping us push forward one more year, and bring our dream of truly personalized education one step closer.  Bye bye 2015, hello a new year of growth, change, and better education.

Finishing 2015 Part 1 - The EDGE Edtech experience

MyeTutor.org Office Space-EDGE Edtech
eLearning Industries – MyeTutor.org was invited to attend the EDGE-Alley Community in NY. Over 500 companies had applied for the program but only a handful of them were selected. The program provided a physical location and hub for thought leadership, classes, programming, meet-ups and co-working space for the NYC education technology community.

This model is designed to inspire talent to come out of the woodworks, to provide space for the for the entire education community to convene, connect, learn and incubate. Leaders from government, education, corporations, and technology companies will find common ground and propel the community and innovation forward.

We had the opportunity for three months to mingle with mature startups, be among some of the most Ed tech creative minds, learn from the best, and meet with top industry leaders. Incredible experiences, vast amounts of information, guidance, and expert advice for a startup to avoid the pitfalls in the education technology world. Many business, and personal connections were made that will be pushing us even further in the coming year.

EDGE is founded by EDTech veterans Don Burton and Jonathan D. Harber. The company takes an innovative approach to fostering early stage EdTech startups, what they call a "Startup Generator", that supports the entire value chain of EdTech company creation from ideation to Series A. for more information visit http://edgeedtech.com/edge-edtech/

October - TechMatch - MIT EF - and a call for registrations

October has come and gone, and with it came many new events, further progress with elearning Industries, and a new push for Beta users!

Events, TechMatch Bratislava and the MIT EF (MIT Enterprise Forum)  Start Smart were 2 events that we spent time @ and both were well put together and very rewarding.

TechMatch fades into the books, but left a lasting impression. Many lessons to be learned, with more great contacts made.  We want to offer a big thanks to GiGi for pushing the Greek startup presence, as well as her very well honed knowledge of pitching, getting the point across, and driving home the points that turn a good pitch into a great one.

Hearing Guy Kawasaki talk about the lesson he learned from Steve, and listening to many of the Silicon Valley big wigs talk about what they look for, what they are hoping to see, and what they really don’t want to know about your startup.  Brought a lot of points of view into focus, yes they all have their own flavor, some even contridect each other, but in the whole scheme of it. They all have seen hundreds if not thousands of great ideas, that wouldn’t make good business.   This is a lesson, it’s not just good enouf to have the great idea, nor the next big thing, if you can’t get the person across the conversation to understand it, believe in it, and in the end, invest in it.

Again big thanks to the guys from USMarket Access.  A job well done! and a GREAT learning experience for those of us new to pitching our business ideas.

MIT EF Start Smart
Concluding the year of the MIT EF with a great event featuring the finalists, and bridging the new batch of young entrepreneurs who will benefit from the great knowledge shared in the MIT EF environment.   Big thanks again to the team for the MIT EF Greece, for their efforts, lots and lots of hours of work, and a great stepping stone in the processes of a growing startup culture in Greece.

eLearning Industries announces MyeTutor.org MVP Release Personalized Education Tutoring Platform

The Push to Change Education is on!
We are excited and proud to announce that eLearning Industries Ltd. Has officially released it's MyeTutor.org MVP platform. It has been a long road, with many hours, sleepless nights, and a dedicated team that overcame several challenges.
Our Co-Founder and CTO Nathan Tufte, with the help of web guru Anastasi Pavlakis were on hand demonstrating the platforms benefits to parents, students and tutors, its functionality, layout, and answered questions about the future developments, business model, and the next steps for the MyeTutor.org platform.
The team successfully demonstrated the benefits of MyeTutor platform that can be outlined as;.

1. It offers parents
  • “Convenience” - tutoring classes do not interfere with their schedule i.e. saving time and effort as there is no transporting the child back and forth to a tutoring centre or making arrangements for an in-house tutor to visit.
  • “Peace of mind” - knowing their child’s tutoring can take place within the safety and convenience of their home or while on holidays, visiting grandparents, even in the car or plane while traveling etc
  • “An Effortless and stress free process” - no more searching for the best tutor or tutoring centre for their child as tutoring is driven by “best fit” algorithms that create the best match between tutors styles with their child’s learning profile
  • “Access to highest quality of tutors” - strictly vetted for competence and character increases the chances of success to their child regardless their geographical location or socioeconomic status
  • “Instant access to their child’s progress” with a click of a button
  • “Economically advantageous solution” costing with up to 60% less than most of the on and off-line tutoring options available.

2. It enables high school students to learn
  • “My way”- their preferred way of learning, they can even choose their tutors amongst those recommended as “best match” with their learning styles,
  • “My place-time-device” - attend their after school tutoring classes from any-place-time-device,
  • “Better and faster” than in a conventional class and thus succeed in their schooling and exams
  • “Enjoy and have fun” – through educational games, competitions, and awards that can even be translated to positive social impact for their community.
  • “With best friends and classmates”- by inviting their best friends regardless where they live as well as class mates to join in and share classes

3. It offers tutors
  • “Satisfaction” – that students learn the right way by eliminating knowledge gaps, learn for life
  • “Convenience” - they can choose to work from home or any place they wish
  • “Cost reduction and time saving” - no need to travel back and forth for a tutoring session
  • “Peace of mind” - when it comes to finding and accessing a large pool of students
  • “Significant Income potential”- when compared to conventional tutoring

The rollout demonstration took place @ the THEA headquarters in Athens Greece. The team at THEA was on-hand for the presentation as well as interested members of the Greek Industries and Commerce community, and VC community.
The rollout is followed up quickly with the demonstrations this week @TechMatch Bratislava, in NY at the EDGE EdTech, and upcoming dates for the Helsinki Slush, and Web Summit in Dublin.
