October has come and gone, and with it came many new events, further progress with elearning Industries, and a new push for Beta users!
Events, TechMatch Bratislava and the MIT EF (MIT Enterprise Forum) Start Smart were 2 events that we spent time @ and both were well put together and very rewarding.
TechMatch
fades into the books, but left a lasting impression. Many lessons to be
learned, with more great contacts made.
We want to offer a big thanks to GiGi for pushing the Greek startup
presence, as well as her very well honed knowledge of pitching, getting the
point across, and driving home the points that turn a good pitch into a great
one.
Hearing Guy
Kawasaki talk about the lesson he learned from Steve, and listening to many of
the Silicon Valley big wigs talk about what they look for, what they are hoping
to see, and what they really don’t want to know about your startup. Brought a lot of points of view into focus,
yes they all have their own flavor, some even contridect each other, but in the
whole scheme of it. They all have seen hundreds if not thousands of great
ideas, that wouldn’t make good business.
This is a lesson, it’s not just good enouf to have the great idea, nor
the next big thing, if you can’t get the person across the conversation to
understand it, believe in it, and in the end, invest in it.
Again big
thanks to the guys from USMarket Access.
A job well done! and a GREAT learning experience for those of us new to pitching our business ideas.
MIT EF Start Smart
Concluding the year of the MIT EF with a great event featuring the finalists, and bridging the new batch of young entrepreneurs who will benefit from the great knowledge shared in the MIT EF environment. Big thanks again to the team for the MIT EF Greece, for their efforts, lots and lots of hours of work, and a great stepping stone in the processes of a growing startup culture in Greece.
We are excited and proud to announce that eLearning Industries Ltd. Has officially released it's MyeTutor.org MVP platform. It has been a long road, with many hours, sleepless nights, and a dedicated team that overcame several challenges.
Our Co-Founder and CTO Nathan Tufte, with the help of web guru Anastasi Pavlakis were on hand demonstrating the platforms benefits to parents, students and tutors, its functionality, layout, and answered questions about the future developments, business model, and the next steps for the MyeTutor.org platform.
The team successfully demonstrated the benefits of MyeTutor platform that can be outlined as;.
1. It offers parents
“Convenience” - tutoring classes do not interfere with their schedule i.e. saving time and effort as there is no transporting the child back and forth to a tutoring centre or making arrangements for an in-house tutor to visit.
“Peace of mind” - knowing their child’s tutoring can take place within the safety and convenience of their home or while on holidays, visiting grandparents, even in the car or plane while traveling etc
“An Effortless and stress free process” - no more searching for the best tutor or tutoring centre for their child as tutoring is driven by “best fit” algorithms that create the best match between tutors styles with their child’s learning profile
“Access to highest quality of tutors” - strictly vetted for competence and character increases the chances of success to their child regardless their geographical location or socioeconomic status
“Instant access to their child’s progress” with a click of a button
“Economically advantageous solution” costing with up to 60% less than most of the on and off-line tutoring options available.
2. It enables high school students to learn
“My way”- their preferred way of learning, they can even choose their tutors amongst those recommended as “best match” with their learning styles,
“My place-time-device” - attend their after school tutoring classes from any-place-time-device,
“Better and faster” than in a conventional class and thus succeed in their schooling and exams
“Enjoy and have fun” – through educational games, competitions, and awards that can even be translated to positive social impact for their community.
“With best friends and classmates”- by inviting their best friends regardless where they live as well as class mates to join in and share classes
3. It offers tutors
“Satisfaction” – that students learn the right way by eliminating knowledge gaps, learn for life
“Convenience” - they can choose to work from home or any place they wish
“Cost reduction and time saving” - no need to travel back and forth for a tutoring session
“Peace of mind” - when it comes to finding and accessing a large pool of students
“Significant Income potential”- when compared to conventional tutoring

As many entrepreneurs know, the
growth from a great business idea to the industry changing presence
they fight so hard to become founders take on several roles. Some of
these roles, or hats as we like to say, are well within your
expertise, while others are not so much.In
the absence of a truly gifted document writer, or documentor, aka
blogger, I'd like to give you a brief overview of the last few
months, as well as our current status, and upcoming challenges.
Lets
go back to March of this year, fresh from the return of the founders
trip to Silicon Valley, we pushed our vision forward. Having learned
and experienced a lot from the VC's and other successful
entrepreneurs we regathered our growing team, added experienced
individuals to fill the missing knowledge gaps, and began the steps
toward our MVP and Beta platform.
We
settled into our offices inTHEAThe
Athens Business Incubator who have been very helpful in giving us
resources, access to a great network, and providing access to
competitions and conventions to help us build awareness.
TheMIT Enterprise Forum
GreeceMIT-EF
was in full swing and the guiadance we received from our mentors gave
us the direction we needed to make steps forward without making the
mistakes that send us crashing. From the 25 semifinalist companies
involved in the experience and competition we were vast underdogs
ready to show our potential. We also invited to attend the MIT
entrepreneurial Boot Camp in Boston US, a great experience and
fantastic networking event that last over a week.
Moving
through April and May we saw many challenges come at us. From
development issues to finding avenues to build awareness. The
Pioneers.ioconvention
in Vienna was a great way to get the ball moving. Finding great
support again from THEA (the Athens Business Incubator) we met with
some great and very open investment groups, and other entrepreneurs.
We even were able to solidify a partnership for our infrastructure, a
big thanks to Softlayer for aiding startups and helping bring us
another step closer.
May
also brought us some great news, having passed into the semi-finals
of the MIT-EF as well as the Hellenic Entrepreneur Award, we had 2
very big goals ahead of us. Making the finals for both of these very
competitive groups. With a great effort from our team, and many
sleepless nights we did just that. Now comes the real push! Just
making the finals isn't the end goal, but it is a great
accomplishment for us, always the underdogs, it re-assured us that we
have something special here.
Summer
time, with the political turmoil in Greece starting to take center
stage on a global level. The drive for us to succeed only grew. We
saw opportunity by keeping much of our team here in Greece as a way
to give other entrepreneurs here a success story to follow. The
finals of both the MIT-EF and HEA did not go our way, but the
encouragement we received from many there, as well as the lessons we
learned had a great effect on us.
August
saw us closing in on our MVP release, and began our Beta user
program. Without launching a formal request for beta users, we
received more then 200% of the requests we thought we would,
including a broad spectrum not just in Tutoring experience, but also
in geo locations. A launch of our early MVP level platform met with
many challenges, but the team pushed through them putting in the long
hours needed to produce our working engine.
Now
that you have been brought up to the present, check out our September
blogs, containing some GREAT information, news and announcements.
Returning to Greece from sunny Silicon Valley with renewed vigor, and a drive to keep pushing forward. The MyeTutor.org team will have to rise to it's challenges in the coming month, and we believe we have a team that is capable, innovative, and giants in their fields. We other news as well! We applied to the MIT-EF (MIT Enterprise Forum) competition / forum for Greece, and have successively passed to the semi finals. Last week the first meeting of the MIT Enterprise Forum. Great collection of companies representing a very broad range of products and services.https://www.facebook.com/MITEnterpriseForumGreece
A lot of work ahead, and some great mentoring from some of top people in their fields. This is another push for us to grow, learn, and create the platform that will evolve education into the information age.
